Bastille Day in the heart of Paris
Categories : Events, published on : 6/1/23
The Fête Nationale, often referred to as Bastille Day, is always a great moment of popular jubilation, but in Paris, the celebrations take on a whole new dimension. Why not make this three-day weekend a part of your holiday in Paris? The Hotel Les Tournelles, located in the heart of the Marais, invites you to stay a few minutes from where it all began: the Bastille!
The great traditions of July 14th
It wouldn’t be Bastille Day without a military parade. The various military personnel, resplendent in their finest dress uniforms, march along the Champs-Élysées in perfect order, starting from the Arc de Triomphe, before going on to salute the presidential gallery in the Place de la Concorde. The sight is impressive and inspiring. Another essential tradition of July 14th is fireworks. The Paris pyrotechnics are launched from the foot of the Eiffel Tower at the end of a superb symphonic concert performed by the Orchestre National de France. An evening of magic!
Dancing on Bastille Day
The Fête Nationale on July 14th is also synonymous with popular balls. In Paris, it’s the fire stations that host them. Please note that most of them are held on the evening of July 13th, such as the one at the Rue de Sévigné barracks, less than 5 minutes on foot from the Hôtel Les Tournelles. If you’re in the mood to dance the night away, you might prefer the cutting-edge electro atmosphere of the Garden Party at the Paris Longchamp racecourse. Gallop races, food trucks, DJ sets… Nothing is missing to make this evening a must.
Bastille Day in Paris remains something you simply must experience. The Hotel Les Tournelles team can share great ideas with you to help make your Fête Nationale truly special, including viewpoints known only to Parisians, a cruise on the Seine, a private evening in a disco, etc.
