With its picturesque wooden chalets, Christmas carols and tempting aromas of roasted chestnuts and hot chocolate, the traditional Christmas market is a must! Near the Hotel des Tournelles you will discover several such markets, all very colourful. Perhaps you will choose to start with one of the favourites of Parisians: the Marché de Noël de Notre-Dame. On the Left Bank, by the Seine, opposite the famous cathedral, this market is set up in a charming old square that is home to the oldest tree in Paris. It boasts numerous artisans’ stalls and plenty of entertainment for children as well as an opportunity to meet Santa Claus. For a different kind of ambiance, head to the Jardin des Tuileries for the Marché de Noël des Forains. Between fairground rides and tests of skill with rifle shooting and hook a duck, you can enjoy a waffle or a crêpe while strolling from the Louvre to the Place de la Concorde... Finally, designer pop-up stores, a variation on the classic Christmas market, flourish in the district during the festive season, including Matières en Fête at the Bastille Design Centre. In Paris, the run-up to Christmas is all about shopping. Near the hotel, you can admire the magnificent display windows of BHV Marais, decorated on the theme of Provence.
